The Nonprofit realm is about identifying and solving societal problems. It is based on understanding human beings as they go through their respective life journeys.

To assist Square Knot with the task of designing programs, projects, and organizations with these problems, the consultants developed the “Quality of Life Domains” approach.

It is briefly described as follows:

We organize our thinking around the notion of five “Quality of Life Domains:” Health, Safety, Economic, Mental Health, and Academic. Successfully accomplishing individual and family goals in these domains contributes, in the main, to a thriving community. Inability of individuals and families to get their needs met in these domains contributes, in the main, to struggling communities. All domains are interrelated and interdependent; meaning that progress (or lack of) in one domain contributes to progress (or lack of) in one or more of the other domains.
